The site currently occupied by Oak Ridge City Center was selected by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to establish a permanent shopping center in the years following World War II. In 1951 the AEC selected a company headed by Guilford Glazer to build the new shopping center. A shortage of steel resulting from the Korean War delayed construction, but the Downtown Shopping Center opened in 1955. This shopping area was considered a replacement for the former "townsite" area around Jackson Square.
In the late 1980s Crown American purchased the property and converted it to an indoor mall by enclosing the walkways around the stores and significantly expanding the floor area. Source

Regency Square Mall is an enclosed regional shopping mall northeast of downtown Florence, Alabama. It is managed and owned by Hull Story Gibson Companies, and is home to nearly 61 specialty shops, 5 anchor store tenants, a food court, a 12-screen Carmike Cinema, and 2 outparcel tenants. Four Seasons Town Centre is a three-story shopping mall in Greensboro, North Carolina. Currently anchored by Belk, Dillard's and JCPenney; it was the first enclosed shopping mall in Greensboro. Currently, it is the only indoor shopping mall within Greensboro's city limits; however, nearby Friendly Center, an outdoor shopping plaza, has many of the same tenants. It is also the only three-story shopping mall in North Carolina, though some department stores at two- or one-story malls have multiple stories. Southaven Towne Center is an open-air regional lifestyle center located in the Memphis, Tennessee suburb of Southaven, Mississippi. The shopping center is owned and managed by CBL & Associates, who developed the property and opened it in October 2005. It was reported that upon opening, the Southaven Towne Center was expected to contribute 1000 jobs to the local economy. This facility marks a first for CBL & Associates, it is their first foray into the lifestyle center property type. Southaven Towne Center brings department stores to Southaven for the first time. Hamilton Place is an enclosed, two-story shopping mall in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was the largest shopping mall in the state of Tennessee when it opened in 1987. The original anchors were Belk, Hess's, Parisian, Proffitt's, Regal Cinemas and Sears. A JCPenney store was added later. Currently, Hamilton Place comprises more than 150 stores and restaurants. Current anchor stores include JCPenney, Sears, as well as two locations each for Belk and Dillard's. Regal Cinemas closed in late 2007 and will be replaced with a Barnes and Noble that will open in fall 2008. Hamilton Place Mall has also announced a $100 million expansion which will include two parking garages, a lifestyle center, and other renovations inside and outside the existing mall. To pay for the expansion, CBL proposes an additional half-percent to 1 percent fee added to any purchase made at the mall or at five other CBL centers within a one-mile radius of Hamilton Place, company officials said. The other locations are Gunbarrel Pointe, Hamilton Corner, Hamilton Crossing, The Shoppes at Hamilton Place and The Terrace. Source

Hickory Hollow Mall is a regional indoor shopping mall in Antioch, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. The mall was originally built in 1978. In 1982, a JCPenney and several other stores were added. Another expansion project in 1991 resulted in a new building for Dillard's, with a mall expansion built upon the former Dillard's location. The two-level mall is built in a cross pattern, with four wings situated around a central hub. A Food Court is situated between the Macy's and Sears wings. Source
